Sundance Square Named Recipient of a 2014 Downtown Pinnacle Award by the
International Downtown Association

Ottawa, ON Canada (September 4, 2014)— During its 60th Anniversary Conference and Tradeshow, the International Downtown Association recognized Sundance Square today with a Downtown Pinnacle Award for its work and initiatives related to the new plaza.

The project, a one-acre outdoor plaza in the heart of Sundance Square, was among 10 qualified entries in the category of Downtown Leadership and Management. This category features comprehensive and unique organizational approaches, projects, or programs that improved the effectiveness of downtown management organizations.

“The addition of the plaza created a centerpiece in downtown Fort Worth that has quickly become a destination for North Texas residents and visitors from all around the world,” said Johnny Campbell, president and CEO of Sundance Square. “Sundance Square Plaza is a treasure for our city and the response to the pedestrian friendly plaza has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Sundance Square’s project received IDA’s most prestigious award for demonstrating excellence in downtown management,” said David Downey, IDA President and CEO.  “Each year the IDA Awards Jury honors the very best programs and projects in each category to recognize great work and most importantly to set the standard for best practice in our industry.  The Sundance Square Plaza is a wonderful example for all cities to emulate.”

The Washington, D.C. based International Downtown Association (IDA) is a champion for vital and livable urban centers and strives to inform, influence, and inspire downtown leaders and advocates.  With 500 members and thousands of friends, IDA is a guiding force in creating healthy and dynamic centers that anchor the well-being of towns, cities, and regions.

Sundance Square is a privately held downtown mixed-use project in downtown Fort Worth and has been a catalyst for the revitalization of the Central Business District for more than 30 years.  Sundance Square is a member of the International Downtown Association.

Sundance Square, a 35-block office, retail and entertainment development in downtown Fort Worth, completed the plaza in November 2013 featuring two new Class A office buildings, several new restaurants, retail shops, a multi-purpose stage, four 32 foot tall umbrellas, and 2,000 square foot pavilion.
