Giant Umbrellas Being Installed on East End
of New Sundance Square Plaza
WHAT: Four giant umbrellas covering more than 6,000 square feet of space are being installed this week in Sundance Square’s new plaza. The elaborate umbrellas, which will be located on the east end of the plaza, will be a focal point of the design in the plaza.
During the day, the four 32 feet high umbrellas will create an urban “ceiling” providing protection from the Texas sun. At night, the umbrellas will become a beautiful display of vibrant colors via LED lights embedded into the fabric that creates the canopy. It will take several weeks for the installation process of the umbrellas to be completed. The plaza celebration is slated for November 1 – 3 and is open to the public.
